At Wednesday’s Richmond Boys Tennis Regional, Rushville beat Batesville 4-1. The Bulldogs reached the finals after a 4-1 victory over the host Red Devils Tuesday.
It was the 20th win of the season for the Lions who earned a trip to Saturday’s Center Grove Semi-State. Match results from Wednesday were:
- 1 singles- Marlin Hershberger (RU) def. Cael Rahe (BA) 6-2, 6-1
- 2 singles- Sam Smith (RU) def. Jaden Smith (BA) 6-0, 6-0
- 3 singles- Cameron Jackman (RU) def. Lyle Oesterling (BA) 6-0, 6-1
- 1 doubles- Jackson Tracy/Cole Pride (BA) def. Jensen Smith/Josh Wainwright (RU) 6-0, 6-2
- 2 doubles- Lucas Vaughn/Trevor Hunter (RU) def. Sam Johnson/Alec Bunselmeier (BA) 6-1, 6-2
Batesville’s Jackson Tracy and Cole Pride advance to Fishers Saturday to continue on in the state’s individual tournament regional.
And Franklin County’s Jack Stirn captured the Richmond Individual Sectional title Richmond with wins on both Tuesday and Wednesday. He will play at Fishers Saturday in the individual regional as well. Stirn is 22-0 overall with a 4-0 record in the state tournament.
At Bloomington South, the Greensburg doubles team of Abe Tebbe and Jack McKinsey fell in straight sets at the individual sectional.
