Ronald “Ron” Carpenter, 60, of Dillsboro passed away Friday, October 4, 2019 at his residence with family by his side. Ron was born Thursday, January 15, 1959 in Milan, the son of Donald and Julia (Goodpaster) Carpenter. He married Edwina Kennedy October 27, 1977 and she survives. Ron was a self-employed truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working.
Ron is survived by wife Edwina; sons: Ronald Edward Carpenter of Sunman and Curtis Carpenter of Dillsboro; daughters: Shannon Dietrich of Osgood, Pamela Hartman of Milan, Diana Carpenter of Batesville and Julia Carpenter of Dillsboro; brothers Donald and Charles Carpenter both of Dillsboro; sister Judy Lear of Milan; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A service celebrating his life will be held 12 PM Wednesday, October 9 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan, with Pastor Mark Vice officiating. Burial will follow in River View Cemetery, Aurora. Family and friends may gather to share and remember him 10 AM – 12 PM Wednesday also at the funeral home. Memorials may be given in honor of Ron to the American Caner Society.
