(Batesville, IN) – Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville has added Michael Roemmich as managing funeral director and embalmer, as of November 27.

Roemmich earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mortuary Science from the Mid-America College of Funeral Service in Jeffersonville, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Ottawa University in Kansas.

He has served as a funeral director in Sellersburg; Louisville, Kentucky; Portland, Maine; and most recently in Naples, Florida.

In addition, he has assisted in the anatomy lab of the University of Central Florida College of Medicine and at the surgery pathology lab of Lakeland Regional Hospital.

Currently, Roemmich and his significant other, Chloe Melton, are both New Albany natives and are making Batesville their home.

According to the funeral home, both are anxious to meet residents and to become involved in the community.

In addition to serving families through funeral service, Roemmich enjoys kayaking and hiking.

Melton will continue commuting to Indianapolis as part of career in the aviation industry. She is also an accomplished artist and has an Instagram account where she displays her artwork.

The couple has two dalmatians, Hannibal and Graham. The latter is an elderly canine with special needs.

“It feels good to be back home in Indiana where Chloe and I have family members and I look forward to meeting families and to carrying on the tradition of excellence in caring that Weigel Funeral Home has been known for since 1880,” Roemmich said.

“It’s been a difficult several months since the loss of Jay Reichmuth and our staff is excited to have Michael on board,” Ron Weigel said. “Funeral assistants Chuck Weigel and Sue Siefert join me in hoping you too will welcome Michael and Chloe to Batesville.”
