Robert E. “Bob” Hofer, age 86, of Brookville, Indiana died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Brookville Healthcare Center in Brookville.
Born January 10, 1930 in Brookville, Indiana he was the son of the late Earl & Kathryn (Reidenbach) Hofer. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
On June 6, 1953 he and the former Betty Faye Calihan were united in marriage and she survives.
Bob served as Sexton of Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville for over 55 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1129 of Brookville, and had been a former member of the Brookville Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
Besides Betty, his wife of over 63 years, survivors include two sons & daughters-in-law, Randy & Rhonda Hofer and Robin & Penny Hofer all of Brookville, Indiana; six grandsons, Dustin Hofer, Brett (Amber) Hofer, Derek (Brandi) Hofer, Brooks Hofer, Cameron (Savannah) Hofer and Logan Hofer; five great-grandchildren, Graham Hofer, Emilia Hofer, Hudson Hofer, Dawson Hofer and Eloise Hofer
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jennifer Hofer, as well as a brother Alfred “Bud” Hofer.
Family & friends may visit from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Burial with full military graveside honors by the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
