Road Reopens Following Emergency Vehicle Training

(Decatur County, IN) – County Road 250 West between Base and Vandalia roads in Decatur County has reopened.

The road was closed from May 29 until Monday for the annual Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVO) training.

The reopening took place one day earlier than originally scheduled.

On social media, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office thanked the community, Decatur County Highway and Emergency Management, and residents along 250 West for their patience and understanding while the road was closed.

The EVO sessions are state-mandated and are held locally instead of sending first responders to the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield for the training, which officials say, saves the county money.

The training is conducted around the clock and while law enforcement officers are on duty.

Police from jurisdictions throughout the county plus EMTs took part in the EVO training.
