INDIANAPOLIS – INDOT maintenance crews are monitoring the weather as Christmas Eve rain may transition into snow and a wintry mix.
Transportation officials say pre-treatment of roads and bridges will be done before the pavement temperatures fall below freezing and snow and ice begin to accumulate.
INDOT plow truck drivers will not take a holiday where needed during the Christmas travel weekend. Theywill adjust its call out of manpower, trucks and materials as appropriate to address forecasted and observed road conditions. Trained employees are on call to staff plow trucks around the clock alternating 12- to 16-hour shifts.
Christmas travelers are encouraged to monitor weather forecasts and schedule long trips either before or after the weather impacts road conditions.
