Rickey “Rick” Stapp, age 76, of Harrison, Ohio, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 18, 2024, in Harrison, Ohio.
Rick was born on March 6, 1948, in Anderson, Indiana, the son of Donovon and Pauline (Leach) Stapp. He was a talented and versatile artist, whose passion for creativity was reflected in his work across wood, glass, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and design. His creativity knew no bounds. Whether he was making intricate Easter egg trees with his children or designing a living room in California, Rick’s artistic vision brought beauty and joy to those around him.
Rick earned his bachelor’s degree from Ball State University and proudly served his country in the National Guard. After teaching art at Harrison Elementary, he went on to pursue his passion for design by founding his own business in interior design and antiques, where he left a lasting impact with his keen eye for detail and passion for transforming spaces.
In addition to his artistic pursuits, Rick took great pride in maintaining their 15 acre property, including a serene pond, where he spent countless hours. His dedication to his land was evident in every corner of his property, which he beautified and nurtured with the same care as he put into his artwork.
On October 23, 1982, Rick married Lana Steeleman at the First Presbyterian Church in Harrison, Ohio. Together, they built a life full of family, love and creativity.
Rick is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lana Stapp; his daughters Emily (Derek) Phipps and Betsy (Jeff) Sharp; and his two granddaughters, Charlotte and Chloe Phipps. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donovon and Pauline Stapp.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 5:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M.at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home, 215 East Broadway Street, Harrison, Ohio 45030. There will be an opportunity to share memories of Rick and view a sampling of his art pieces.
