Loving husband, father and grandfather Rick (Loren R.) McMillin passed away on June 29 surrounded by family. Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Pamela (Bischoff), loving daughters Natalie (Tony) Ewald, Andi (Jonathan) White and Megan (Joe) Boone and by nine loving grandchildren Melissa, Morgan, Madison, Will, Aubrie, Rustan, Preston, Jennings and Lorea. He also leaves behind his brothers Larry (Ruth) McMillin and Teen (Sharon) McMillin and many nieces, nephews, lifelong friends and colleagues. He was predeceased by his parents Lowell and Mildred (Hutchinson) McMillin and his nephew Ryan McMillin. Rick was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 11, 1954 and attended Whitewater High School and Ball State University. Throughout his life, Rick was closely involved with his daughters’ sports activities, in community and civic affairs, and in his professional commitments during his time at Hill-Rom in Batesville and most recently to his many Sibcy-Cline friends and clients. Rick was elected to serve as a member of Board of School Trustees of the Franklin County Community School Corporation.
Those who knew Rick recognized his outgoing personality and appreciated his willingness to stake out his position on issues and to work tirelessly to achieve the goals he identified as important. The compassion shown by his volunteerism in numerous church and community activities will be greatly missed as will his ability to make everyone smile, laugh and feel special. His quick smile and extended hand made all feel welcome and respected. In his leisure time he enjoyed tending to his garden, reading and singing to his “grand babies,” hunting, creating his secret recipe (rum-soaked raisins) oatmeal cookies, and foraging for the ever elusive morel mushroom. He was a man of character and good will toward others.
