Richard “Dick” Amberger

 

Richard “Dick” Amberger, of Sunman, was born on July 20, 1943 in Batesville, the son of Leo and Ruth Zins Amberger.  He married Jo Ann Retzner on May 27, 1967 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church and she survives.  Dick worked at Heartwood in Batesville was a member of St. Nicholas.  He enjoyed simple pleasures and spending time with his family, but was also an avid hunter and a member of the NRA.  On Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the age of 73, Dick passed away at his residence.


Those surviving who will cherish his memory include his wife, Jo Ann Amberger; son, Charles Amberger of Sunman; daughter, Charlene (Neil) Dudley of Batesville; 4 grandchildren, Alex Dudley, Megan Amberger, Alyssa Dudley and Jason Amberger; sisters, Rosemary Gander, Delores Linkel, Millie Blanken, Margaret Thielking and Ann Gutzwiller, all of Batesville, and Edith Ernstes of Greensburg.  He is also survived by 5 brothers, John, Bill, Albert, Steve and David Amberger, all of Batesville.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jacob Amberger and a sister, Alma Amberger. 


Friends may visit with the family from 2 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman.  Rosary will be recited at 1:15 p.m.  Father Frank Eckstein will officiate a Mass of Christian burial on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
