Reverend Charles William “Charlie Bill” McKinley, 94, of Moores Hill passed away Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Manderley Health Care Center with his loving family by his side. Charles was born on Monday, June 22, 1931, in Henry County, Indiana; son of William and Anna Mae (O’Neal) McKinley. Charles worked as a final auditor inspector for Hamilton Foundry for 23 years. He married the love of his life, Anita (Sturgill) McKinley, on October 3, 1953, and she preceded him in death on November 16, 2025. Charles proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He became a Christian in 1957 and joined Negangard Corner Freewill Baptist Church and proudly served the Lord the rest of his life. He pastored at many churches through the years with his last being Pipecreek Freewill Baptist Church in Sunman. He loved to go horseback riding and loved horses. He also served the Lord on the radio for 20 years on WTRE in Greensburg and WRBI in Batesville. Charles was also a member of Byrdstown Lodge 496. He was known as Brother Charlie Bill to a lot of you and his saying was, “We love you all and know Jesus loves you more.”
Charles will be missed by his son William John (Huicha) McKinley of Milan; daughters Angela (Steve) McKeown of Moores Hill, Sharon (John) Hart of Canaan, and Pamela (Tim) Kittle of Moores Hill; sisters Vickie Antras of Versailles, Lenda Ratliff of Lake Junaluska, North Carolina; sister-in-law Carol McKinley of Greensburg; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents William and Anna Mae McKinley; loving wife of 72 years, Anita McKinley; son Paul Marvin McKinley; grandson Steven Allen McKeown II; sister Virginia (Mike) Race; brothers Kenneth McKinley, Raymond McKinley, Ronald McKinley, and Dewayne McKinley; and brothers-in-law Curtis Ratliff and Frank “Eddie” Antras
Family and friends may gather in remembering Charles from 3:00-4:00 PM, Friday, November 28, 2025, at Pipecreek Freewill Baptist Church: 13147 N Penntown Rd., Sunman, IN 47041. Services will be held at 4:00 PM with Pastor Larry Waldon officiating. Military rites will be provided by Southeastern Indiana Honor Guard. Memorials may be given in honor of Charles to Cincinnati VA Medical Center or Pipecreek Frewill Baptist.
