The Cincinnati Reds erupted for seven runs in the third inning to pound the Giants 10-3 Sunday in San Francisco to take two out of three games in the weekend series.
The Reds sent 11 men to the plate in that third inning and collected eight hits with all seven runs scoring with two outs.
Tyler Mahle was brilliant in notching his third win of the season. Mahle gave up three runs and four hits over 6 2/3 innings while striking out seven and walking just one. The right-hander is now 3-6 on the year.
Former Red Anthony DeSclafani took the loss for San Francisco.
The Reds won the series lid-lifter Friday night, 4-2 to snap what was a seven-game losing streak.
The Giants took Saturday night’s game, 9-2.
The Reds are off Monday before beginning a three-game series Tuesday night against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
