A 2-run home run by Chicago’s Luis Robert Jr. in the top of the 6th was the deciding hit, as the Reds fell 5-4 to the White Sox on Friday night.
Cincinnati built up a 3-run lead by the bottom of the 4th thanks to a 1-run double by TJ Friedl in the third and 1-run singles by Jake Fraley and Nick Senzel in the fourth.
The White Sox would begin their comeback in the top of the fifth with a 3-run home run by Elvis Andrus to tie the game at 3-3 in the top of the 5th.
The Reds would answer with a solo home run by Jonathan India to retake the lead briefly, 4-3, before Robert would hit the aforementioned 2-run home run to give the Sox the 5-4 lead in the top of the 6th. That score would hold for the rest of the game as Chicago handed Cincinnati their 19th loss of the season.
TJ Friedl went 2-4 with a double and an RBI for the Reds.Lance Lynn took the win on the mound for the White Sox, striking out 8 and allowing 4 earned runs in 6 and 2/3 innings of work.
Hunter Greene suffered his second loss of the season for the Reds, allowing 5 earned runs while striking out 7 in 5 and 2/3 innings pitched.
