The Cincinnati Reds snapped their three-game losing streak on Tuesday night, defeating the Baltimore Orioles 3-1 in game 2 of the series.
Rookie Andrew Abbott continues to be a bright spot for the Reds’ pitching staff, earning his 4th win of the season. The left-hander struck out 8 and walked 3 while giving up just 1 run in 6 innings on the mound.
Abbott would give up the run in the bottom of the second inning when Aaron Hicks scored on a Ryan McKenna sacrifice fly to make it a 1-0 game.
Cincinnati would tie the game up in the fourth with a Matt McClain RBI double.
In his next at-bat, McClain gave the Reds a 2-1 lead on a solo home run to center. TJ Friedl capped things off with a solo homer of his own in the 8th to make it a 3-1 game.
Closer Alexis Diaz closed things out in the 9th to give Cincinnati the win and earn his 22nd save of the season.
