(Lawrenceburg, IN) – A recount held this week in the Dearborn County Commissioner District 1 race confirmed the result of the May 7 Primary Election.
Jim Thatcher’s win over Mike Lawrence in the Republican primary remained in place.
The final total was 2,494 votes for Thatcher and 2,465 for Lawrence – a difference of 29 votes.
Lawrence filed a petition for a recount after he lost by 28 votes on election night.
Dearborn Circuit Judge Aaron Negangard ruled the recount would be done manually.
Six poll workers – three Republicans and three Democrats – conducted the recount, which took nearly eight hours to complete.
