Decatur County, IN — Decatur County Democratic Party Chair Chris Ramey has been appointed by Republican Eric Holcomb to the Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities.

Ramey is a recruiter for PROMAN Staffing in Greensburg, which provides employment opportunities to those with various backgrounds.

Ramey has worked in various roles that have supported those with disabilities.

During his childhood, he helped care for his stepsister Natasha Rowland.

Ms. Rowland passed away in 2019.

His mother was a Social Worker and a caregiver throughout her professional career and Ramey was part of this life.

“My mother has a story that when I was a baby, I was in a car seat while she worked an overnight shift at the group home she ran,” Ramey said.

To be appointed to the board all board members must be invested in furthering the political, social, and civil rights of people with disabilities through advocacy to promote their individual
freedoms.

During his childhood, Ramey helped care for his late stepsister Natasha Rowland. Board members are required to be invested in furthering the political, social, and civil rights of people with disabilities through advocacy to promote their individual freedoms.

Because the Council’s role is one of innovator and facilitator, board members are expected to stay informed and current with disability policy/trends, be aware of new opportunities, and
think strategically.

The Council receives about $1,500,000 dollars in federal funding every year to conduct activities and projects in accordance with the Council’s Five-Year Plan for People with Disabilities.
