The following are girls high school basketball recaps from Tuesday, December 7.
South Ripley got a big win over 1A-No. 5 Trinity Lutheran 47-24.
Gracie Gunter led the Raiders with 13 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Emily Flood had nine points and six boards. Rachel Meyer tallied seven points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. And Katelynn Samples collected six points, eight caroms and four dishes.
(VAR) Lawrenceburg was a 57-36 winner over Batesville.
The Tigers Lizzie Redar logged 21 points. Kirsten Cross amassed 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Batesville was led in scoring by Sophie Gesell with seven points followed by Carley Pride and Alyson Peters with six apiece.
(JV) The Bulldog JV pulled out a 48-47 victory over LHS.
Claire Saner’s 13 points were best for the Batesvile reserves. Teammate Marlee Obermeyer added nine.
North Decatur lost to Eastern Hancock 66-48.
Kelsey Haley turned in 12 points for ND. She was followed in scoring by Claire Kinker with 10 and Madelyn Bohman with nine.
(VAR) Milan’s varsity lost on a 46-44 buzzer beater against Southwestern Hanover.
Audrey Schmidt and Makaylee Rivera scored 13 and 12 respectively for the Indians.
Trinity McLain with 13, Emma Long and Kylie Eccles with 11 led the Rebels.
(JV) The Indians JV won 33-29 over the Rebels.
Alex Getz led the Milan reserves with 10 points.
Franklin County won a 41-40 thriller over Richmond.
FC hit 10 of 11 free throws in the fourth quarter to beat Richmond 41-40.
Kassidy Schell led the Wildcats in scoring with 11 points and hit what proved to be the two winning charity tosses. Jenna Bruns only scored four, but all came at the stripe in the final quarter. She also helped make the game’s final defensive stop against the Red Devil’s top player.
Connersville lost a 42-41 heartbreaker at New Castle.
The Spartans battled back after trailing 12-3 following the first quarter.
CHS got 17 points and five rebounds from Hailey Sembach plus 10 points and four boards from Karsen Morgan.
