South Ripley versus Sunman-Dearborn at Milan.
7th Grade-South Ripley 39-38.
South Ripley built a comfortable lead going into half-time, only to see Sunman rally for an exciting finish. With under a minute to play in the 4th quarter and the game tied at 36, Sunman hit a two-point bucket to take a 38-36 lead. After a South Ripley time-out, Lane Sparks drilled a deep three to give the Raiders a 39-38 lead with 8 seconds remaining. Sunman was unable to get a shot off and the Raiders hung on for the 39-38 victory.
Sparks led with 14 points, while Cody Samples added 12, Bryce Franklin scored 9, and Brady Linkel chipped in 4 points.
On Thursday, South Ripley (16-1) travels to Batesville for the championship game against the winner of St. Louis and Greendale. Tip off scheduled for 5:30.
8th Grade-Sunman-Dearborn 33, South Ripley 32.
In another nail bitter, Sunman-Dearborn escaped in a 33-32 thriller. With South Ripley leading 31-30 and 20 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter, Sunman hit a baseline jumper to take a 33-32 lead. South Ripley called time-out and worked for a last second shot that just bounced off the rim.
Dakota Day lead all scorers with 16 points to go along with 8 rebounds. Conner McCarty scored 6 points, Eric Vickers added 4 points with 7 rebounds, and Kaleb Rinear scored 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
The Raider 8th graders conclude the season with a 12-5 record.
