The Cincinnati Reds plan to keep Aroldis Chapman as their closer for the 2014 season.
For the past couple of off-seasons, speculation has risen whether Chapman will be utilized from the bullpen or as a starting pitcher.
“I am certainly a believer after one more year in the bullpen, Chapman is a really strong closer,” Reds Manager Bryan Price told WRBI.
“My fear is that going into starting, that there would be a transition period on a team that is ready to win now,” Price added. “It changes the entire layout of our starting rotation and our bullpen.”
Price, along with other club officials, traveled to Florida this week for the 2013 Winter Meetings.
