(Southeastern IN) – Electric co-operative officials say a serious power supply emergency is affecting the southern part of the state.
Both Southeastern Indiana REMC and Decatur County REMC urge you to cut back on electricity usage until further notice.
Steps you can take include:
- Turn off all unnecessary lights.
- Postpone using major appliances such as dishwashers and clothes dryers.
- Turn your air conditioning thermostat to 78 or higher.
- Turn down your water heater.
They say these will help ease the strain on the power supply, and prevent temporary blackouts.
