Paul William Koons, 83

Paul William Koons, 83, Rising Sun IN passed away on February 26, 2025, at the Waters of Rising Sun, Rising Sun, Indiana. Paul was born on March 22, 1941 in Patriot Indiana, son of the late Raymond (Pat) Koons and Ilene Koons. Paul grew up in Patriot Indiana and then later in Rising Sun Indiana when his family moved when he was a teenager. He was a 1959 graduate of Rising Sun High School.

He was united in marriage with his wife, Dorothy (New) at the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ on June 25 1960. They resided in Rising Sun and they were blessed with two children, William (Bill) Koons and Lori Koons.

Paul was employed by Anchor Glass in Greendale Indiana for 42 years when he retired in 2002.

Paul was known for his love of restoring old cars. In the summer, you would see him out driving his 1949 Ford or his 1962 Impala. There weren’t too many cruise ins or car shows that you didn’t see him at. His most remembered car was a 1932 yellow roadster that he built with his son Bill and was locally known as the American Graffitti car. Paul loved his family and spending time with them, especially his grand children. He loved big family get togethers where he tried to spend time with everyone there. He always made everyone feel special with his hugs.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Koons of Rising Sun, his son Bill (Kelly) Koons of Rising Sun, his daughter Lori (Dan Sheets) of Milan Indiana, six grand children, Chad (Alicia) Koons of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Savannah (Travis) Cox of Lexington, KY, Olivia Koons of Danville IN, Seth Koons of Rising Sun IN, Myles Koons of Rising Sun IN and Leah Koons of Rising Sun, IN, five great grandchildren, Artie, Avia, Gentry, Quinn and Frankie, his brother Daniel (Beverly) Koons of Rising Sun, his sister Patricia (Leon) Romans of Aurora Indiana and sister Mary (Clarence) Reynolds of Seymour Indiana and several nieces and nephews who he loved very much.

Paul will always be remembered for his love of life and for the love he always showed his family and friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 1st, 2025 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Visitation will be 5-8 PM on Friday, February 28th, 2025 at Markland Funeral Home.
