Paul Girty

Paul Girty, 71 years old, of Dover, IN passed away Tuesday, December 15. Originally from Mt. Healthy, Paul moved to Dover shortly after he and Linda married in 1993. It was here that Paul set up his wood shop in which he had a wood mizer and would help friends by sawing logs for them. He also spent time in his wood shop making items for the church or toys that he would sell at the craft shows. Paul spent much of his time maintaining the property at All Saints Parish, St. John’s Campus, just across the street from his home. He took this opportunity to teach and spend more time with his grandsons and together they worked diligently to keep the property looking pristine. He was a wonderful grandpa to all eight of his grandchildren and he enjoyed taking them to Skyline and on jeep rides. Years ago, Paul owned Appaloosa horses and belonged to the Appaloosa Club. He would travel to different horse shows across the country and won several awards with his brown chestnut named Paul. He also loved his many Australian Shepard dogs. Paul and some of his friends from town fondly called themselves the Bowling Club. Although their group had absolutely nothing to do with bowling, they did enjoy frequenting the St. Leon Tavern every Tuesday night.

Paul will be greatly missed by his wife Linda of 27 years, step-children Jill (Patrick) Hartman of Brookville, Nikki (Neil) Christen of Bright, and Kevin (Shannon) Redelman of St. Leon; grandchildren Jacob & Adam Hartman, Alexandria, Mason, and Owen Christen, and Gage, Adelynn, and Kara Redelman of St. Leon; sister-in-law Diane Girty; nephew Jacob and great-nephew Nicholas. He is preceded in death by his parents Ruth & Arthur Girty, brother David Girty Sr., and nephew David Girty Jr.
