Patricia “Pat” Rahe

Patricia “Pat” A. Rahe 78, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2020.

She was born October 23, 1942 in Indianapolis, IN, daughter of the late Floyd George Dunham Sr. and Blanche (Wilson) Dunham.

She worked in nursing at Dearborn County Hospital, for Dr. George Morrison and was Director of Nursing at Shady Nook Nursing Home. She also was a Professor for Ivy Tech, retiring after over 20 years of service.

She was the organist at St John Lutheran Church for many years. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, directing the choir, and teaching children any instrument that they wanted to learn how to play. Pat also participated in the Village Organist Christmas program in Aurora. Pat was the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Woman of the Year in 1973 for her efforts to bring the Cincinnati Symphony to the Aurora City Park for the Hoosier Mini Festival. She was a member of Aurora Tri Kappa and Hillforest Historical Foundation.

Pat is survived by her loving spouse of nearly 57 years, Dr. John Rahe of Aurora, Indiana, daughter, Andrea (Steve) Thalheimer of Goshen, IN, son, John “Chris” Rahe of Goshen, IN; Grandchildren, Adam (Fiancé, Cassandra Hurley) Bratten of Rolla, MO, Luke Thalheimer, Devon Rahe, Shelby Rahe, Hayden Rahe all in Goshen; brothers, David (Jan) Dunham of Rockford, IL, Floyd George Dunham Jr. of Indianapolis, IN, and William Dunham of Nashville, IN; sister-in -law, Eileen Dunham of Hazel Green, AL; brothers-in-law, Arthur (Sonia) Rahe of Auburn, IN, Melvin (Lillie) Rahe of Georgetown, IN, William (Stephanie) of Sanibel Island, FL, and Martin (Maribeth) Rahe of Cincinnati, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother George Michael Dunham.

Friends will be received Saturday, November 7, 2020, 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at the St. John Lutheran Church Aurora, 220 Mechanic St., Aurora, Indiana. Masks and safe social distancing practices will be followed.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm with Pastor Ronald Stephens and Pastor Edward Davis officiating.

Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana.

Due to the current situation dealing with COVID-19, we are following the directives from Governor Holcomb and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention concerning large events and mass gatherings.
