There were cross country runners from ORVC schools who particiapted at the Columbus North Regional Saturday.  While no conference teams advanced to the Brown County Semi-State next Saturday, some individuals did.

To qualify for a semi-state, a team must finish in the top five. Also, any individual among the top 10 runners from non-advancing teams qualify as well.

Not only did Shawe’s Calli Alderman and Switzerland County’s Claire Rogers earn a trip to Brown County, they also earned All-Regional honors by finishing in the top 20 at Columbus North.  Alderman was fifth overall with a time of 19:12 while Rogers ran 19:52 to place 11th.

And on the boys side, Switz’s Cooper Hon was 26th overall in 17:42.  He was closely followed by Shawe’s Sam Fewell in 29th with a time of 17:51.  Both advance.

Narrowly missing out qualifying individually were Southwestern’s Brandon Smith and Switzerland County’s Nathan Furnish.  Both crossed in 18:25, just six seconds behind the 10th and final individual qualifier from a non-advancing team.

Team wise, Switzerland County’s girls were eighth, the Pacer boys were ninth and Southwestern’s boys finished 10th.
