ORVC All-Conference, Mental Attitude, C.O.Y. and All-Sports honors

The ORVC has announced its All-Conference teams, Mental Attitude awards and Coach of the Year honors for the 2022 spring season.  The athletic program All-Sports winners for the entire school year have also been revealed.

Boys golf and track all-conference selections were previously announced based on their conference meet results.

However, just released, were a couple of special awards.  The Boys Golf Mental Attitude Award winner is Switzerland County’s Bryce Wrightsman and his dad, Travis Wrightsman, is Coach of the Year.  The Pacers won the ORVC shooting 173.

The Track Mental Attitude winners are both Jac-Cen-Del Eagles- Austin Hammond and Cloey Simon.  Coach of the Year awards went to Zac Nussbaum for the Southwestern champion boys and to Jim Cole of the South Ripley champion girls.

Baseball and Softball All-Conference selections were voted on by the ORVC coaches. Ripley County athletes named to those respective teams include:

Jac-Cen-Del- Brady Borgman and Justin Swinney for baseball along with Maria Meyer and Oliva Strunk for softball.

Milan- Jeremiah Johnson and Caiden Yorn for baseball plus Chloe Hunter and Audrey Schmidt for softball.

South Ripley- Dalton Smith for baseball along with Alexa Heidt, Mady Tompkins and Ellie Waldron for softball.

The Baseball Mental Attitude Award went to Milan’s Caiden Yorn and Coach of the Year honors went to Southwestern’s Dan Thurston whose Rebels won the ORVC with a record of 11-1.

The Softball Mental Attitude winner is South Ripley’s Mady Tompkins. Coach of the Year is Ken DeDreu of Rising Sun whose Shiners won the ORVC at 9-1.

With the spring regular seasons in the books, the ORVC has also revealed the conference’s All-Sports Champions for the school year.  For the girls, South Ripley won 68-54 over runner-up Switzerland County.  For the boys, it was Southwestern taking first, 64-60 over second place Rising Sun.  The overall all-sports champ is South Ripley with 117 points.  Switzerland County followed with 110.
