One Dearborn Makes Final Pitch to State

(Indianapolis, IN) – The One Dearborn County Stellar Pathways Team was in Indianapolis last week to present plans for reinvestment in Bright, Dillsboro and Greendale.

One Dearborn is one of four finalists for approximately $2 million in state funds through the Stellar Pathways program, which is a multi-year, multi-million-dollar initiative led by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA).

The program works with communities in a self-determined region on a shared vision for community and economic development, promotes local and regional partnerships, and assists in implementing sustainable solutions to challenges Indiana’s rural communities face.

Using a $50-thousand planning grant, as well as a $5-thousand planning contribution, the planning team has  worked with residents and organizations across the county to create the new One Dearborn County Strategic Investment Plan, which is available for reading at www.1dearborn.org/stellar.

In forming the plan, thousands of Dearborn County citizens shared through in-person workshops and online surveying what was important to their families and communities

The transformational investments proposed for Stellar Pathways include revitalization of Greendale’s Ridge Avenue neighborhood, a renaissance for Dillsboro’s downtown, enhancements and gathering spaces at Bright Meadows Park, downtown infill housing, new senior housing, community health workers, historic preservation, and a thriving local food system.

OCRA is expected to announce the Stellar Pathways designees in January 2025.
