Olive Mae “Tootie” Alvey, age 87, of Laurel, Indiana died Sunday, July 17, 2016 at her residence in Laurel. Born February 16, 1929 in Peppertown, Indiana she was the daughter of the late Leslie & Laura (Bulmer) Quinlan. On September 29, 1951 she was united in marriage to Alfred Alvey and he survives.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Buena Vista Christian Church. In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening and tending to her gladiolas, collecting angels, and perhaps most of all taking care of her family.
Besides Alfred, her husband of nearly 65 years, survivors include a son, Gary (Rhonda) Alvey, and a daughter Debra Alvey, both of Laurel; a granddaughter, Angela (Bobby) Shaffer and her pride & joy, great-granddaughter, Hailee Shaffer; two sisters, Helen McCarty of Clarksburg, Indiana and Hazel Jordan of Bowling Green, Indiana.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.
Family & friends may visit from 5 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Pastor John Johnson of the Buena Vista Christian Church will officiate the Funeral Services at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
