Donald T. Wilmer, “Show Don”, 66, of Greensburg, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at his home in Millhousen. Don was born on November 20, 1955 in Greensburg, Indiana to Walter and Mary (Eden) Wilmer. Don was an avid car lover. He enjoyed attending car shows and restoring old cars with his close friends, the Stone boys. Don also loved collecting and restoring small engines, primarily antique Maytag and Briggs & Stratton. He enjoyed the challenge of getting them to run again.
Don was a very intelligent individual. Most people didn’t know how he was placed directly into Second grade as he was advanced in his education due to his mother teaching him Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic. When he was 4 years old his dad would take him to Stone’s Restaurant, and he would read the Greensburg Daily News to the patrons.
During his high school years Don worked at the Fry’s sawmill north of Millhousen. After graduating, Don started working at Al Reynolds Auto dealership. There he worked in several different departments before advancing to the position of parts manager. When Al Reynolds closed, he went to work at Stone’s NAPA. He worked there until retiring last year. Don was a 44-year member of the Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department.
He was an only child and was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary (Eden) Wilmer.
Don is survived by several cousins and close friends.
