North Decatur varsity baseball score 18 runs in home win over Edinburgh

North Decatur varsity baseball jumped out to an early lead over Edinburgh and took home an 18-3 victory on Thursday.

The Chargers earned the victory despite allowing the Lancers to score three runs in the first inning. Edinburgh’s big inning was driven by a single by Jarrett Turner and by Milas Burkman.

North Decatur put up eight runs in the third inning. The offense in the inning came from singles by Tyler Dean and Ty Litmer, a triple by Nolan Burkhart, an error on a ball put in play by Brayden Hancock, and a double by Dean.

Dean took the win on the mound for the Chargers. The righty allowed five hits and three runs over three innings, striking out six. Litmer threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Turner took the loss for Edinburgh. The pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, allowing 17 runs on nine hits and striking out three.

North Decatur tallied ten hits in the game. Litmer, Dean, and Burkhart each managed multiple hits for the team. Burkhart, Dean, and Litmer each managed two hits to lead the Chargers.

Edinburgh racked up seven hits in the game. Jared Myers and Turner all had multiple hits for the Lancers.
