Greensburg, IN — The Indiana Fever have once again joined forces with Nike, the NBA and WNBA for a second season of Game Growers.

Nike Game Growers is an exclusive opportunity for Eighth-Grade girls to share their ideas on how to encourage more girls to play sports. Two girls were selected by each participating WNBA or NBA team to develop and test their idea and create a Game Plan that could grow girls’ sports participation.

On Friday, the Fever surprised students Breanna McBride and Cecilia Barber from North Decatur Junior-Senior High School in Greensburg, Indiana after the two were officially selected as Fever co-captains for this year’s Nike Game Growers Program.

“It means a lot to empower girls to get more active and it’s really exciting,” McBride replied.

Their surprise visit included a personally recorded message from Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell, that the two watched on a computer before being presented with their Game Grower certificates and Fever swag bag, filled with plenty of Fever gear.

As co-captains, the two will lead the development of their idea to grow sports for girls.

“We’re hoping to set up a summer plan to talk to girls about health and motivate them to participate in sports,” Barber said.
