North Decatur Softball Handles JCD, 17-0

Osgood, IN – The North Decatur Chargers travelled to Jac-Cen-Del to take on the Eagles on Tuesday night in an early season matchup.

On a chilly and windy Tuesday night, the weather may have been cold but the Lady Chargers bats were anything but that. North Decatur jumped on the Eagles quickly after 2 doubles down the left field line from Carmen Thackery and Kendall Hostkoetter. Libby Crawford then singled to plate the final of 3 runs in the first inning.

Elizbeth Meister pitched a 3 hit shutout over 5 innings with 3 strikeouts and 3 walks. Run support for her continued to pour in over the next few innings, and in the 4th, the Chargers plated 11 runs including an inside the park homerun from Brooklyn White. The Chargers also were very sound on the defensive end, not committing a single error.

Overall, North Decatur piled up 23 hits and 17 runs on Eagles pitcher Cheyenne Cullen. Libby Crawford provided a spark in the middle of the lineup, going 3-4 with 5 RBIs, and Carmen Thackery had 4 RBI’s. Leadoff hitter Madison Rohls led North Decatur with five hits in five at bats. Meister, Hostkoetter, Jocelyn Jackson, and Thackery each collected multiple hits for ND. Jackson, Rohls, and Thackery each stole multiple bases for the Chargers. North Decatur also ran wild on the base paths, tallying 14 stolen bases for the game.
