North Decatur JV softball falls in high scoring contest against Rushville

On Saturday, scorekeepers were kept busy during a high-scoring softball contest between Rushville and the North Decatur JV, with the Chargers losing 18-8.

The North Decatur Chargers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Rushville, giving up 18 runs.

Rushville captured the lead in the first inning when Emi Flannery homered on a 0-1 count, scoring three runs.

The Lions would then take the lead for good with three runs in the second inning.

In the fifth inning, the JV Chargers would fight back with three runs of their own. The North Decatur offense in the inning was led by Megan Quinlan, Libby Crawford, and Elizabeth Meister, who all drove in runs.

Rushville scored six runs in the third inning. The Lions’ big bats were led by Herbert, Eliza Snow, and Rhianna Hedrick, all driving in runs in the frame.

Hedrick led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Rushville. The pitcher went six innings, allowing eight runs on seven hits and striking out seven.

Meister led things off in the circle for the Chargers. Meister went five and a third innings, allowing 18 runs on 16 hits and striking out five.

North Decatur collected seven hits. Mia Stier and Sydney Rohls each managed multiple hits for the Chargers. Rohls and Stier each collected two hits to lead the team.

Rushville scattered 16 hits in the game. Snow, Herbert, Hedrick, and Kyleigh Glandon all managed multiple hits for the Lions.
