New youth employment rule becomes mandatory tomorrow

Statewide —The new Indiana Department of Labor requirement that all businesses employing five or more minors – age 18 and younger – report information through the Youth Employment System (YES) becomes mandatory tomorrow (July 1).

Schools will no longer be required to issue work permits, and any business that does not comply with the new registry system could face fines of up to $400 per infraction.
