New music venue taking shape in Nashville

Nashville, Ind. — A new music venue could be open in the Nashville, Indiana area by the spring of 2019. The Brown County Convention and Visitors Bureau along with the Brown County Convention and Visitors Commission have unveiled a detailed plan for a 2,000-seat indoor music venue.

The proposed Maple Leaf Performing Arts Center is estimated to cost about $10.2 million and be paid off over 30 years with proceeds from the five percent CVB tax on rooms and cabins.

“We believe that the proposed Maple Leaf venue holds great potential for positive economic impact on the community,” said Jane Ellis, Executive Director of the Brown County CVB. “Not only will it help to enhance Brown County as a stronger regional draw and destination to visit; but in the end, our hopes are that it will make it a better place to live and work as well.”

Organizers plan to team up with a professional booking agency to secure top talent. The venue will be open to all genres of music. It could also be used as a center for corporate presentations or community functions.

The project is still in the planning phases and will have to navigate through several town, county and community organizations and commissions. For more information and updates on the proposed Maple Leaf Performing Arts Center, please visit www.browncounty.com/mapleleaf.
