STATEWIDE — The Indiana Department of Health on Wednesday reported 6,164 new cases of the coronavirus across the state.
That’s the highest one-day total since January.
Both Franklin and Decatur counties moved to Red on the state’s COVID metrics map this week, while Ripley and Dearborn counties stayed in Orange.
There were 35 new cases reported in Dearborn County; Ripley and Decatur counties each reported 28 new cases, and Franklin County had 23 positive cases.
Sixty-three new COVID-19 deaths were reported across Indiana, which brings the total number of deaths in the state to 17,033 since the start of the pandemic.
The 63 deaths are way above the seven-day average of 23.
One of the deaths reported Wednesday was in Ripley County.
