Myrtie Mae Holman Franklin, 65, of the Hopewell Community near Holton passed away at 8:11pm on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born at Knightstown on August 3, 1951 the daughter of the late Truman and Amelia Geisler Holman. Myrtie grew up in New Marion and attended the New Marion School and was a 1969 graduate of South Ripley High School. Myrtie married Frank Franklin, the love of her life and her best friend on May 7, 1971 and God blessed them with two children, daughter Wendy (Brian) Meyer of Cross Plains, and son Chad (Loretta) Franklin of the Hopewell Community; seven grandchildren Jacob, Lindsay, Sarah, Rachel, Scott, Carly, and Elijah. Other survivors include two brothers Harry (Bernadette) Holman and Roy (Vickie) Holman both of Versailles; two sisters Dina (Vernon) Herbert and Brenda Holman both of Milhousen. She was also preceded in death by her brother Lester Holman, her sister Darlene Holman, nephew Roger Holman, and her niece Tammy Holman. Myrtie was always athletic and loved to play softball, volleyball, basketball, ride horses, and basically anything outdoors. She loved to work beside her husband as they built their house and operated their farm for over 46 years. She was a former employee of US Shoe in Osgood and had worked as the superintendent for the Holton Water Corporation. Myrtie was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 14th at 11am at the Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Ty Choate officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4pm to 8pm and will also take place at the church. Memorials may be given to the West Fork Cemetery, Hospice of South Central Indiana, or the Hopewell Baptist Church in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
