Myrna A. Strohmier, of Brookville, was born on May 30, 1940, in Franklin County, Indiana, the cherished daughter of the late Edward and Addie Strohmier (née Smith). Growing up as the youngest of six siblings, she formed a special bond with her mother, who was also her best friend. She retired from Zimmer Tractor, where she served as an accountant for many years. Myrna was a devoted member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church and took great pride and joy in her time spent as a Sunday School teacher. Myrna had a deep appreciation for the simple things in life—friendship, kindness, and home. She enjoyed writing, knitting, singing, and dancing. In her younger years, she took tap and ballet lessons, and she continued to delight in making up dances in her wheelchair and singing tunes in the comfort of her room. She also had a great love for Johnny Bench.
Myrna’s life advice was, “Be honest. Be kind. And make friends.”
On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the age of 85, Myrna passed away peacefully at The Knolls of Oxford.
Those surviving who will carry Myrna’s legacy forward include her brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Mary Strohmier; as well as several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Addie Strohmier; and four siblings, Lloyd Evelyn Smith, Jane Lee Miller, Dale Strohmier, and Mildred Gesell.
