Mrs. Norma Ruth (Barker) Roberson, age 87, of Bloomington, Indiana, formerly of Vevay and Indianapolis, Indiana, entered this life on March 24, 1933 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Sturman and Iva M. (Mattingly) Barker. She was raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and was a 1951 graduate of Ben Davis High School. Norma was united in marriage on June 14, 1952 at the Speedway Christian Church in Speedway, Indiana to Richard Paul Roberson. This happy union was blessed with three children, Debbie, Mike, and Dan. Norma and Richard shared nearly 48 years of marriage together until he passed away on March 18, 2000. Norma held various jobs throughout her life. She was a former secretary at Holiday Inn in Indianapolis, Indiana and was a wonderful homemaker. She was a member of the Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay, Indiana. She resided in the Indianapolis community from 1933-1963, Speedway, Indiana community from 1963-2005, and the Vevay community from 2005-2014. Norma enjoyed her time with family and friends at Lake Shafer and going to the Indianapolis 500 with her husband and friends. Because of her love of animals, she volunteered countless hours at the Indianapolis Zoo. Norma will be remembered for her love of singing, painting, crocheting, cooking and traveling. Norma passed away at 3:25 p.m., Sunday, November 15, 2020, at the Garden Villa in Bloomington, Indiana.
Norma will be missed by her daughter, Debbie Hickman and her husband, Dave of Vevay, IN; her sons, Mike Roberson and his wife, Sharon of Geneva, FL and Dan Roberson and his wife, Christie of Nichols, SC; her grandchildren, Sarah LaGrange and her husband, Mike, Benjamin Hickman and his wife, Holly, Nathan Hickman and his wife, Ali, Alex Roberson, Rachel Pfeifle and her husband, Adam and Dana Roberson and her fiancé, Josh Pryor; her great-grandchildren, Cordelia Jean “Cora” LaGrange, Grant LaGrange and Lincoln Hickman; her sister-in-law, Karen Stansbury of Centerton, IN and her nephews, Scott Stansbury and his wife, Sharon of Sharonville, OH and Jeff Stansbury of Indianapolis, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sturman and Iva M. (Mattingly) Barker; her husband, Richard Paul Roberson and her brother-in-law, Jerry Stansbury.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required along with social distancing. Private graveside services for family only will be conducted Thursday, November 19, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., at the Floral Park Cemetery, 425 North Holt Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46222.
Interment will follow in the Floral Park Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana.
