Mrs. Gladys (Harlow) Hunt, age 91 of Florence, Indiana, passed away at 8:35 a.m., Friday, July 9, 2021 at the Water’s of Clifty Falls in Madison, Indiana. She was born July 20, 1929 in Switzerland County, Indiana, the daughter of James Otis and Lenna Mae (Stewart) Harlow. Mrs. Hunt was raised in Switzerland County as the family moved from farm to farm early in her life. The family bought a farm in Fairview, Indiana and the Harlow family was finally settled. Gladys was a 1949 graduate of the Vevay High School. On May 20, 1949, she married the love of her life, Burnie Hunt at the Switzerland Baptist Parsonage. Together they raised two sons, Ernie and Gene and shared over 67 years of marriage until Burnie’s death on October 2, 2016. Mrs. Hunt was employed for the Plastic Molding Factory in East Enterprise, Indiana, retiring on August 1, 1994, after 23 years of service. She was also a member of the Quercus Grove United Methodist Church in Quercus Grove, Indiana. Gladys enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as, traveling and listening to bluegrass music.
Gladys will be missed by her son, Gene Hunt of Madison, IN; her grandchildren, Chanda Hart and her companion, Jesse Covington, Danny Hunt and his wife, Bridget, Jo Mayer and her husband, Jason, Kelsey Hunt and Jacob Hunt; her great-grandchildren, Lane, Kelli and her companion, Trisston, Ryan, Aleiah, Malachi, Zadie, James, Alice and Henry; her great-great-granddaughter, Heidi and her several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Otis Harlow, died May 4, 1972; her mother, Lenna Mae (Stewart) Harlow, died November 10, 1963; her husband, Burnie Hunt, died October 2, 2016; her son, Ernie Lee Hunt, died November 9, 1996; her daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Hunt, died January 3, 2003; her infant brother, Charles Harlow, died September 17, 1919; her infant sister, Norma Harlow, died October 15, 1931; her sisters, Anna “Thelma” Thurnall, died March 26, 2006 and Edith Dugle, died April 7, 2021 and her brothers, Marion E. “Bud” Harlow, died March 22, 2011 and Gerald James “Jerry” Harlow, died September 10, 2016.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 13, 2021, by Rev. Mike Jones at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
