Mrs. Alberta G. (Green) Reed, age 93, of Waldron, Indiana, formerly of Vevay, Indiana passed away at 12:53 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2021 at the Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville, Indiana. She was born on January 20, 1928 on Plum Creek Road in Switzerland County, Indiana, the daughter of the late, Andrew and Sadie Mae (Peters) Green. Mrs. Reed was raised in Switzerland County and was a 1945 graduate of the Vevay High School. Alberta was united in marriage to Meredith “Red” Reed on May 29, 1953 in Madison, Indiana. Although Alberta and Red were never blessed with children, they were blessed with a niece, Donna whom they raised. Alberta and Red shared nearly 27 years of marriage until his death on March 15, 1980. She was a member of the Plum Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Reed was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed gardening and quilting. She was well known for her savory homemade bread and yeast rolls.
Alberta will be missed by her daughter, Donna Scott and her husband, Jeff of Waldron, IN; her grandchildren, Somer Case Eads and her husband, Mark of Greenfield, IN, Trevor James Scott of Hill Air Force Base, UT, Jake William Scott and his wife, Angeline of Indianapolis, IN and Travis Case of Waldron, IN; her great-grandchildren, Trenton, Harlan and Waylan; her sisters, Linda Poling of Quercus Grove, IN, Lucille Phillips and her husband, Cherry of Vevay, IN; her brother, Ivan Green and his wife, Dollie of Patriot, IN; her sister-in-law, Billie Green of Vevay, IN and her several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Peter Green, died December 28, 1946; her mother, Sadie Mae (Peters) Green, died July 21, 1985; her husband, Meredith E. “Red” Reed, died March 15, 1980; her sisters, Dorothy Mae Scott, died June 1, 1960, Meredith Scudder, died April 26, 2010 and Mary Catherine McManis, died April 23, 2021 and her brothers, Marvin Green, died November 27, 1967, Allen Green, died May 15, 1986, Arthur “Buddy” Green, died August 23, 2011, Charles Green, died October 19, 2015 and Galen M. Green, died November 30, 2019.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., by Rev. Mike Jones, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
