Mrs. Faye M. (Sullivan) Hatton Lewis, age 99, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on May 15, 1918, near Center Square, Indiana, the daughter of the late, John Freeling and Rosa (Truitt) Sullivan. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana and was a 1935 graduate of Vevay High School. Faye was united in marriage on November 12, 1938, in Vevay, Indiana, to Gerald Hatton. Faye and Gerald shared nearly 48 years of marriage together until Gerald passed away on July 23, 1986. Faye was later united in marriage on December 7, 1991 in Mt. Sterling, Indiana, to Edgar C. “Pete” Lewis. Faye and Pete shared 12 years of marriage together until Pete passed away on January 30, 2004. Faye was employed as a cook for the Switzerland County School Corporation, retiring after eight years of service. She was a member of the Mt. Sterling Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and clerk and enjoyed singing in the choir. Faye was a wonderful homemaker and farmer and enjoyed baking, writing daily in her diary and watching Wheel of Fortune with her niece, Glenda Sullivan. Faye passed away at 8:20 pm, Wednesday, August 2, 2017, in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Faye will be dearly missed by her several extended family members and abundance of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: John Freeling Sullivan, died November 14, 1949 and Rosa (Truitt) Sullivan, died March 20, 1959; her 1st husband: Gerald Hatton, died July 23, 1986; her 2nd husband: Edgar C. “Pete” Lewis, died January 30, 2004; her son: Ronald Lee “Ronnie” Hatton, died October 22, 2009; her brothers: Leon, Cecil and Glenn Sullivan; her sisters: Bernice Pike, Nola Van Tyle, Ethel Dunning and Hazel Scudder.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, August 6, 2017, at 2:00 pm, by Rev. Mike Sawalich at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
