Mrs. Eleanor Jean (Wiley) Aldred, age 93, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was born March 27, 1930 in Switzerland County, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late, William Hubert and Hazel A. (Cole) Wiley. She was raised in Fairview and East Enterprise, Indiana and was a 1948 graduate of Vevay High School. On September 1, 1951, Eleanor married her high school sweetheart, Allen Wayne Aldred at the Mt. Sterling Baptist Church and they were blessed with four children. Eleanor graduated nursing school from Bethesda Hospital in 1951. She was employed as a registered nurse for the Methodist Hospital. She was a former member of the Aberdeen and East Enterprise United Methodist Churches, and most recently, a member of The Chapel in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Eleanor and Allen Wayne enjoyed wintering in St. Pete Beach, Florida. The sweethearts shared 72 years together until his passing on March 26, 2017. Most of all, Eleanor enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She exuded positivity and gratefulness with a smile in all situations, and was a blessing to all who came across her path. She spent her last days surrounded by loved ones. Eleanor passed away at 11:47 p.m., Friday, May 5, 2023, at the Lutheran Life Villages in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Eleanor will be missed by her daughters, Kathy Lee (Ron) of Carrollton, TX and Marcia (Kevin) Cismowski, of Ft. Wayne, IN; her son, Dr. Keith (Jody) Aldred of Plano, TX; her grandchildren, Shawn (Chelsea) Cismowski of Tampa, FL, Dr. Booth (Kristin) Aldred of Austin, TX, Melanie (Douglas) McGregor of Angola, IN, Leslie (Darrel) Lambert of Austin, TX, Lauren (Dan) Rosselli of Fort Wayne, IN, Dr. Kassie (Eddie) Newton of Crowley, TX; Austin Aldred of Plano, TX and Haleigh (Wil) Manhkong of Dallas, TX; her great-grandchildren, Aiden, Dimitri, Piper, Mason, Liam, Vivienne, Finn, Penny, Raelynn, Prestyn, Sam, Olivia and Brooks; her brother, Elijah “Snookie” (Dottie) Wiley of Jasper, IN and her several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Hubert Wiley; her brother, Ronald L. Wiley; her mother, Hazel A. (Cole) Wiley; her son, Dr. Stephen Aldred; her husband, Allen Wayne Aldred, M.D. and her sister-in-law, Eula “Jo” (Kidwell) Wiley.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Thursday, May 11, 2023, at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home, Covington Knolls, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804 and from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2023, by Pastor Mike Jones, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
