Mrs. Edna Pearl Spencer (Clark), passed away on August 31, 2024 at the age of 86 at her home in Columbus, Ohio, following a prolonged sickness brought on by heart failure. Edna Pearl was born on October 2, 1937 in Madison, Indiana. She grew up in Vevay in her younger years attended the Vevay schools and was very active in music and singing in various venues throughout the area. She was married to John Spencer on June 2, 1957, who was also a childhood resident of Vevay and attended the same school in the same class as Edna Pearl. After John’s graduation from Purdue in 1959, the new Spencer family launched into a military career moving first into Texas followed by residences in Georgia, Alabama, Nevada, Oklahoma, England and then to Clarence, New York and then to their current location of Columbus, Ohio in 1972.
Edna Pearl was preceded in death by both her father and mother, Darwin L. and Thelma (Broadwell) Clark as well as two brothers, Dilver and Paul Clark and all four grandparents.
She is survived by her husband, John and two sons, Nick who lives in Westerville, Ohio and Ralph who lives in Jacksonville, Florida.
Edna Pearl was a devout Christian throughout her lifetime, starting in the Vevay Methodist Church in the 40s and 50s and a life full of Christian studies and periodic “Letters to the Editor” of the Vevay Newspapers over the many years. She was looking forward to meeting with her maker and serving him.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 4. 2024, in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
