Mrs. Deborah (Harter) Margison, age 76, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on December 26, 1947 in New Castle, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late, William Warren and Patricia Ann (Butner) Harter. She was raised in Cadiz, Indiana where she was a 1966 graduate of Cadiz High School. Deborah married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Lee Margison on June 28, 1970 in Cadiz, Indiana. Deborah and Ronald shared over 54 years of marriage and were blessed with one son, Zeb. She graduated from Purdue University in 1970 with a degree in vocational home economics. Deborah taught home economics at Union High School in Modoc, Indiana from 1970-1989, while obtaining her master’s degree in education from Ball State University. After 40 years of teaching, Deborah retired in 2010 from Shenandoah High School in Middletown, Indiana. Her passion for teaching impacted the lives of many students and left a lasting legacy in her community. She resided most of her life in the Henry County, Indiana community. A beloved figure in her communities, Deborah made her home in Switzerland County, where she fell in love with her property and the serene beauty of the area since 2010. She cherished her role as a Grammy, finding immense joy in creating memories with her beloved granddaughter, Zaylee. Deborah passionately volunteered with many organizations such as the V.F.W. Auxiliary, 4-H Club, public library boards, Eastern Star Chapter #110 of Middletown, Indiana, food pantries, Women’s Giving Circle, child advocacy groups and many more. Deborah had a warmth and generous spirit and touched the lives of many with her kindness and compassion, especially regarding children. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Deborah passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Monday, December 23, 2024, at her residence.
Deborah leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Ronald Lee Margison of Vevay, IN; her son, Zeb Margison and his wife, Jessica of Vevay, IN; her granddaughter, Zaylee Margison of Vevay, IN; her sister, Billie Ann Harter of Anderson, IN and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Warren Harter, died May 2, 2007; her mother, Patricia Ann (Butner) Harter, died May 16, 2002 and her brother, Randy Warren Harter, died August 18, 1980.
A Celebration of Deborah’s Life will be held at a later date.
