Mr. Steve L. Beach, age 74, of Vevay, Indiana, was born on July 23, 1950 in Madison, Indiana. He was the son of the late James Thomas and Christine (Wood) Beach. He was raised in Switzerland County and graduated high school in 1969. Steve was inducted into the United States Army on December 15, 1969 in Louisville, Kentucky. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Rife M-16 Badge, and Expert Rifle M-14 Badge. He was transferred to the reserves on December 5, 1972 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class on September 1, 1975. On June 6, 1970, Steve was united in marriage to Brenda Sue Sandlin in Moorefield, Indiana. This happy union of nearly 55 years was blessed with two daughters. Steve was employed for the Muscatatuck State Developmental Center near North Vernon, Indiana for several years. Steve was a lifelong resident of Switzerland County and enjoyed fishing and attending yard sales. Steve passed away at 7:35 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2025, at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Steve will be missed by his wife, Brenda Sue (Sandlin) Beach of Vevay, IN; his daughters, Melissa Patrick and her husband, Fred of Vevay, IN, and Tonia Brindley and her husband, Terry of Vevay, IN; his grandchildren, Khelsi Patrick and her fiancé, Kyle Wilson, Kody Patrick, and Jessica Brindley; his great-grandchildren, Madison, Layla, Lilly, and Dakota Wilson; his brother, James “Freddy” Beach and his wife, Dottie of Defiance, OH; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Thomas “Jim” Beach, died October 19, 2012; his mother, Christine (Wood) Beach, died October 13, 2014; his sister, Martha Ann (Beach) Rowlison, died December 22, 2015 and her husband, Bruce Rowlison, died January 5, 2025, and his brother, Roger Wayne Beach, died October 13, 2023.
Steve’s wishes were to be cremated with no services being held at this time.
