Mr. Michael S. Wonder

Mr. Michael S. Wonder, 75, of Bloomfield died Sunday, July 2, 2023 in the Roudebush Veterans’ Administration Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Linton, Indiana on May 3, 1948 the son of Barton E. and Margaret L. (Axe) Wonder. He was a 1967 graduate of Bloomfield High School and was a proud U.S. Navy veteran. He was an airplane enthusiast which led him to a career as an airplane mechanic holding an A & P license along with an Inspection Authorization (IA) for many years. He operated Greene County Aero. Countless hours were spent flying with friends across the country. His proudest achievements in life and career in aviation were the airplanes he worked on or built. Memberships include the Quiet Birdmen and the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Survivors include two sons, Sean M. Wonder of Vevay, Indiana and David R. Wonder of Bloomfield; one granddaughter, Rene E. Wonder of Bloomfield; one grandson, Owen D. Wonder of Bloomfield; his former wife, Charlene (Robinson) Wonder of Vevay, Indiana; one brother, Jeffry L. Wonder of Greenwood, Indiana; one sister, Darlene Fougerousse of Worthington, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Daniel R. Wonder and David B. Wonder.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 7, 2023, at the Welch & Cornett Funeral Home, 140 East Vincennes Street, Linton, Indiana 47441.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at the Shawnee Field with Doug Kimball officiating.

Any of his flying buddies are welcome to fly in to attend the service. After his final trip down the runway at Shawnee Field, burial will follow with military rites in Grandview Cemetery.

If friends should so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
