Mr. Matthew Ryan “Matt” Christman, age 42, of Lexington, Kentucky, formerly of Switzerland County, Indiana, entered this life on May 31, 1983 in Madison, Indiana. He was the beloved son of Kevin Wayne Christman and Deborah Lynn “Debbie” (Meisberger) Allen. He was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana and graduated in 2001 from Switzerland County High School, where he enjoyed playing golf. Matt furthered his education at the Golf Academy in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, earning his associate’s degree. Following college, he worked in the golf industry, serving as an assistant golf professional at Mountain Home Golf Course in Mountain Home, Arkansas for a few years. He later returned to Indiana, where he was employed in the pro shop at Coyote Crossing Golf Club in Lafayette. Matt also worked for Vierk’s Fine Jewelry in Lafayette, Indiana, where he discovered a passion for jewelry design. He especially loved creating meaningful pieces for his family. From 2007 to 2018, Matt farmed alongside his father, Kevin, on Christman Farms in Switzerland County, Indiana and Carroll County, Kentucky, taking pride in continuing the family’s agricultural tradition. He was raised in the Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay, Indiana. Matt had a deep love for sports, particularly enjoying watching the Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Kentucky Wildcats. An avid golfer, he cherished the time spent on the course, and enjoyed teaching his son, Connor virtual golf. Matt also cherished his time spent with his son playing baseball and building Lego cities. Matt loved his family and valued the time spent with them. Matt passed away at 3:05 a.m., Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
Matt is survived by his wife, Jessica “Jessi” (McGinnis) Christman of Lexington, KY; his son, Connor Christman of Lexington, KY; his mother and step-father, Deborah Lynn “Debbie” (Meisberger) Allen and her husband, Bert of Vevay, IN; his father, Kevin Wayne Christman of Madison, IN; his maternal-grandmother, M. Maxine (Haas) Meisberger of Madison, IN; his half brother, Tyler Christman and his wife, Rachel and their children, Riley and Briar of Bedford, KY; his half sister, Bethany Christman of Sarasota, FL; his brother Nate’s children, Sierra and Clayton; his aunts and uncles, Denise and Gregg Brown of Mason, OH, Keith and Tara Christman of Canaan, IN, and Kathy and Danny Covington of Vevay, IN; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Brenda McGinnis of Butler, KY; his sister-in-law, Katie McGinnis and her children Greyson and Brady of Butler, KY; his cousins, Travis Brown and his wife, Stephanie of Mason, OH, Zach Brown and his wife, Allison of Marysville, OH, Erica Soule and her husband, Lucas of Madison, IN, Erin Jackson and her companion, Aaron Bush of Vevay, IN, Lacey Johnson and her husband, Jake of Bedford, KY, Dustin Christman and his wife, Megan of Hanover, IN, Lisa Ahluwalia and her husband, Shilpi of New Hyde Park, NY, and Leslie Covington of New York, NY.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Nate Christman, died September 3, 2017; his maternal-grandfather, Chester Allen Meisberger, died February 27, 2012; his paternal-grandfather, Clyde William “Bill” Christman, died April 28, 2022 and his paternal-grandmother, Wanda Lee (Scudder) Christman, died April 9, 2018.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
A Celebration of Matt’s Life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Inurnment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens, Madison, Indiana.
