Mr. Gerald Wayne Bailey, age 72, of Vevay, Indiana, passed away at 11:25 p.m., Thursday, July 15, 2021, at the St. Elizabeth Healthcare-Dearborn in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. He was born on March 7, 1949 in Milan, Indiana and was the son of the late, Harold V. and Allene (Romans) Bailey. Gerald was raised in Rising Sun, Indiana and attended Rising Sun High School. Gerald was inducted into the United States Navy on May 2, 1967 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. He received the Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on March 11, 1969 in Seattle, Washington. He was a truck driver for several years for Huff Contractors in West Harrison, Ohio for several years and for Baylor Trucking in Milan, Indiana for several years. Gerald was a member of the Vevay VFW Post #5396 and the Vevay American Legion Post #185. Gerald enjoyed fishing and will be deeply missed by his family.
Gerald is survived by his daughters, Gerrilyn Bailey of Rising Sun, IN and Kristina Michelle Riddell of Lexington, KY; his grandchildren, Cody Bailey, Christopher Riddell, Conner Asher, Chloe Asher, Cate Riddell, Destyni Baker and Quinten Freeman; his great-grandchild, Gerika Baker; his step-children, Raymond Clayton, Mary Clayton and Amy LaCount all of Lawrenceburg, IN; his step-grandchildren, Gage LaCount, Samantha LaCount and Kayla Ballard and his brothers, Donald Bentz of Patriot, IN, Doug Bentz of Greendale, IN and Roy Bentz of Verona, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold V. and Allene (Romans) Bailey; his granddaughter, Paige Ridener; his sister, Sheila Lester and his brother, Robert Bentz.
