Mr. Estal Leon Lozier, age 92, of Switzerland County, Indiana, entered this life on January 8, 1932 in Patriot, Indiana. He was the son of the late Thomas C. and Celia E. (Webster) Lozier. He was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana and was a 1951 graduate of the Patriot High School. Estal was inducted into the United States Army on September 25, 1952 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He served in the Korean War and received the Korean Service Medal with 2 Campaign Stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal with 2 Overseas Bars and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant on June 24, 1954 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Estal was united in marriage on August 10, 1954 to Barbara “Colleen” Peak in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. This happy union of nearly 65 years was blessed with three sons. Estal was employed as an electrical operator for Cincinnati Gas Electric, retiring on September 1, 1991 after 40 years of service. Estal farmed most of his life and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union #212 of Cincinnati, Ohio. He was also a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396. Estal enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and drinking with his family. Estal passed away at 12:11 p.m., Monday, June 10, 2024, at the Jewel House in Madison, Indiana.
Estal is survived by his sons, Mark Lozier and Michael “Todd” Lozier of Sunman, IN; his grandchildren, Benjamin Lozier, LeAnn Lozier, LoriAnn Lozier, Cassidy Graf and her husband, Chris and Tanner Lozier and his wife, Ashley; his great-grandchildren, Rensly, Livi and Reid and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas C. Lozier, died April 18, 1959 and Celia E. (Webster) Lozier, died July 28, 1987; his wife, Barbara “Colleen” (Peak) Lozier, died February 28, 2019; his son, Phillip Leon “Phil” Lozier, died January 28, 2022; his grandson, Ryan Phillip Lozier, died May 6, 2010; his brothers, Lester and Virgil Lozier; his sisters, Anna Mae Jones, Mary Geneva Wallick and Lelia Kelley and his daughter-in-law, Rae Jean Lozier.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., Monday, June 17, 2024, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Graveside Services and full military rites will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Monday, June 17, 2024 in the Concord Cemetery, Concord Road in Patriot, Indiana.
