Mr. Donald “Duane” Dye, age 67, of Florence, Indiana, entered this life on July 17, 1958 in Palm Springs, California. He was the son of the late Robert Lewis Dye and Alice (Roney) Dye Sturgeon. He spent his childhood and formative years in California, Scottsburg, and Madison, Indiana, and in Missouri where he was a 1976 graduate of the Chillicothe High School. Duane was united in marriage on July 8, 1985 to Donita Mae Armstrong in Vevay, Indiana and they shared over 40 years of marriage together until his death. For several years, he devoted his talents to carpentry, a craft he took great pride in. He greatly enjoyed fishing and hunting and had a passion for woodworking. Duane passed away 10:28 a.m., Saturday, September 6, 2025, at his daughter’s residence.
Duane will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Donita Mae (Armstrong) Dye of Florence, IN; his son, Shawn Smith of Thailand; his daughters, Autumn Dye of Hamilton, OH, Pamela Hopper and her husband, Michael of Florence, IN, Alisha Dye of Florence, IN, and Cadence Smith of Broken Arrow, OK; his grandchildren, Cheyenne, Harley, Landon, Elijah, Serenity, Jordan, and Atreyu; his sister, Dolores “Dian” Batson of Shepherdsville, KY; his brother, Robert Sturgeon and his wife, Dee of Madison, IN and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lewis Dye; his mother, Alice (Roney) Dye Sturgeon; and his sister, Pamela Jeanette Maples.
Duane’s wishes were to be cremated with no formal services.
