Mr. Benny Alan Jackson, age 75, of Deming, New Mexico, formerly of East Enterprise, Indiana, entered this life on September 24, 1948 in Pineville, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Leon Jackson, Sr. and Evelyn (Napier) Hamilton. He was raised in Pineville, Kentucky and attended Lone Jack High School. Benny was inducted into the United States Army on October 31, 1966 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He specialized in aircraft mechanics and was a repairman and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Solder’s Medal and the Marksmanship Badge. Benny served in the Vietnam War and was later transferred to the reserves on October 30, 1969 at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class on October 30, 1972. Benny was united in marriage to Judith Dora Prechtel on July 1, 1967 in Falmouth, Kentucky. This happy union was blessed with a son, Joseph and a daughter, Heidi. Benny and Judy shared 49 years of marriage together until her passing on July 7, 2016. He was employed for Fisher Auto Parts in Cincinnati, Ohio. Benny was later employed for the Markland Locks and Dam for a few years. Benny hauled water for local Switzerland County residents and owned and operated Ken & Ben’s Hauling Service for several years. Benny and Judy owned and operated the Bear Branch General Store in Bear Branch, Indiana, Rieman’s Grocery Store and the Hog Wash Laundry Mat in East Enterprise, Indiana. He was a member of the Vevay VFW Post #5396, American Legion Post #41 of Carrollton, Kentucky and the Aurora Fraternal Order of Eagles. Benny was later united in marriage to Joyce K. Sackett on August 24, 2019 at their home in Deming, New Mexico. Benny enjoyed story telling, music, hunting and fishing. Benny passed away at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 23, 2024, at his residence.
Benny is survived by his wife, Joyce K. (Sackett) Jackson of Deming, New Mexico; his son, Joseph Jackson and his wife, Juanita of East Enterprise, Indiana; his daughter, Heidi Siler and her husband, Joe of East Enterprise, Indiana; his grandchildren, Dylan Casey and Cheyenne Casey; his great-grandchildren, Mylie and Levi King; his step-children, Jeff Moore and his wife, Jennifer, Ron Moore and his wife, Jill and Wendy Moore and her companion, Ron; his step-grandchildren, Richard, Bethany and Dakota Winget, Kaylee Gibbs, Callen and Reagan Moore and Adriane Thomas; his several step-great-grandchildren; his brothers, David Jackson, Harold “Harry” Jackson and Howard “Pete” Jackson; his sisters, Juanita Brothers, Melvina Wellbrock and Sandy Vierling and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Jackson, Sr.; his mother, Evelyn (Napier) Hamilton; his wife, Judith Dora (Prechtel) Jackson; his brothers, Leon Jackson, Jr., Renfro Bishop and Earl Ray Jackson and his sisters, Loretta “Betty” Hensley and Shelia Lynette.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 6, 2024, by Pastor David Jackson, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment and full military rites will be conducted in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Madison, Indiana.
